400 shares gives you 1 coupon for 2,500 yen plus a 2,500 yen coupon which can be used for made to order shirts.

2,000 shares gives you 2 coupons for 2,500 yen each plus a 2,500 yen coupon which can be used for made to order shirts.

10,000 shares gives you 5 coupons for 2,500 yen each plus a 2,500 yen coupon which can be used for made to order shirts.

Although the shirts are sold in many stores around the country, there is only one directly-managed store in Osaka where you can use the coupons. For most people, you'll either have to order online, or go to the big sale in Tokyo.

Comment

If you want to expand your wardrobe, these coupons can let you do so slowly. There are a lot of things on the store which are 2,500 yen with free shipping, so investing in 400 shares guarantees that you'll get a free shirt twice a year if nothing else. You can of course also use the coupons for anything. Sometimes in a deep discount you might find something that would cost 1000 yen, but the 400 share barrier will give you many more options.

I haven't been to the Osaka store, but once or twice a year Yamaki does a big sale at their offices in Osaka and Tokyo. You don't need to be a shareholder to access it, and you can learn about the details by adding their Line account. The information on how to add it is in the shareholder documents, but you can just get it from the website. You can use the coupons here, and I'd probably recommend waiting for the sale if you live in Tokyo or Osaka. You can buy all sorts of shirts from all their brands at low prices. I assume it's leftover inventory but it's not like dress shirts go out of style with the season. Of special note is that there's an area where they sell their expensive shirts that have defects for 1000 yen each. Sometimes it's obvious like a big stain on the front, but other times it's just something you'd never notice like a loose thread at the bottom. I've gotten some great deals from there.  There is also a very small women's section.

You can also use the order shirt coupon, at least in the Tokyo location you go up to a higher floor and they have a completely different setup where you choose the fabrics and they go through the process of measuring you and building it together. They claim that the pricing on the fabrics is greatly discounted during the sale, and they have a wide variety in different price ranges.  Note that if you want them to mail the shirt to you once it's done, you have to pay 700 yen extra.

Chart

The company has certainly had its ups in downs. COVID certainly didn't help them at all as the demand for business clothing cratered, but they seem to have weathered the storm and have a plan to profitability.
