It operates through General Merchandise Store (GMS) Business, Discount Store Business, Supermarket (SM) Business, Health & Wellness Business, Financial Services Business, Shopping Center Development Business, Services & Specialty Store Business, International Business, and Other Business segments.  It is one of the largest retail companies in Japan, owning brands such as Aeon department stores, Aeon Mall, Aeon Town shopping malls, Daiei, MaxValu, Maruetsu, My Basket, Ministop convenience stores, Welcia drugstore, and Aeon Cinema movie theaters.

Aeon has bought out a lot of retail chains in the past and continues to do so in their objective to be the largest retailer in Japan. Comment

If you do any regular shopping at an Aeon owned store then the rebate can really add up, especially if it's your main supermarket.  Note that to take advantage of the rebate you must pay using either cash, Waon, or the Aeon credit card. The other benefits of the card are nice extras, especially if you can get to Aeon Cinema easily as the discounted tickets are a big savings. Aeon lounges have gotten a lot worse post-COVID so I wouldn't get the card for that, but it's a nice addition. Not surprisingly due to the perks and company growth, Aeon is the most popular stock for individual investors in Japan.
